UMNO Youth Chief, Dr Akmal Saleh was summoned to the police station and yesterday (September 29), he went to the police station in Jasin, Malacca to record his statement on the Halal certification matter.

In his TikTok post @drakmalsaleh, Dr Akmal said he was shocked and touched to see the crowds that waited for him outside the station, who were not only there to get his statement but also to show support.

“I’m touched to see the continuous support given to this humble self.”

The UMNO Youth Chief said he had told the police that his statement was merely a response to Teresa Kok’s initial remark on the Halal certification issue, which has upset many Malaysians, including Muslims.

“I’ve said it many times. The Halal certification is a senstive matter and if you want to protect the harmony of the country, you cannot speak on such sensitive matters. I am not going agaisnt Teresa Kok, but I was merely responding to her.”

Regardless, Dr Akmal not only made it clear that he would not apologise to Teresa but also showed that he was ready to elevate the matter by going to court.

“No fear, no surrender!” Dr Akmal chanted with the crowds as he left the scene.

“We stand with you, chief”

Malaysian social media users who were not at the scene also took the opportunity to show support for the UMNO Youth Chief.

“We will protect Dr Akmal, regardless. No fear, no surrender.”

“A fight is a fight. Let them watch and let UMNO move forward. This serves as a reminder to those who touch on 3R matters.”

“To all UMNO members, look at Dr Akmal. None of you gave him moral support. All of you in this government are hungry for power. Regardless, I pray that Dr Akmal will be blessed by Allah.”
