WATCH: Suspected Chinese Rocket Debris Spotted In Sarawak Night Sky
Bright objects, suspected to be the remnants of a Chinese rocket that had fallen back to Earth, were spotted streaking across the Sarawak night sky last night, circa midnight.
Various video recordings have made its way onto social media, where reports have pointed towards debris from China’s Long March 5B rocket, which was launched on 24th July 2022.
Here is an eyewitness video of the incident.
According to international reports, the Long March 5B rocket was launched, carrying the second of three modules China needs to complete its Tiangong space station.
The debris is reportedly from a booster rocket attached to the main rocket that did not jettison as planned.
NASA also confirmed that the rocket’s 22.5 tonne core stage re-entered Earth’s atmosphere over the Indian Ocean around 12.45am on 31 July.
