Celebrity chef and local entrepreneur Khairul Aming is well known for a lot of things. From his Ramadhan recipe series to his high in demand Sambal Nyet.
He has become an inspiration for many young Malaysians to continue fighting for their dreams and to never give up no matter the obstacles.
Recently, Khairul shared the operations behind his multimillion ringgit business as well as revealed exactly how much his product has made in sales since starting just 2 years ago.
In a video on his social media accounts, Khairul shared that Sambal Nyet has made over RM21.5 million in sales since its start 2 years ago.
He also revealed that his team had received an award by Shopee under the category of Best Customer Service.
Exclusive behind the scenes
He then went on to share the operations behind his business in hopes of inspiring others.
Every morning, Khairul says that his team receives over 1,000 kg of fresh onions and chilies from his supplier. They would then do a quality check on each and every single vegetable to make sure that it is safe and fresh to consume before storing it in cold storage.
Then the kitchen team would take out these ingredients and proceed with the process of weighing it all. They then wash the onions and chilies repeatedly to make sure that it is all clean.
The team then continue on to the cooking phase which takes up a chunk of the time.
They then transport the sambal to the packaging section where it is inserted into sealed glass jars.
After that is all done, they then do a quality check on each and every single jar to make sure that it is all up to standard.
The jars are then sent to the sales section where the team would handle orders. Khairul stated that his team handles over 5,000 bottles per day.
Future plans
Khairul then explained that for 2023, he is pleased to announce that his second factory in Kelantan is now operational and where they will be working on their second product.
“We are also planning even more rewards for our employees and started on ground events at various universities.”
“I’m so happy and grateful for everything, because I really started off with nothing. Thank you so much to my supportive team and all of you who have been supporting me,” he concluded.
