It is never a good excuse to hurt or kill stray animals no matter what they do as there are better and much more humane ways to deal with them.

Recently, a netizen took to Instagram to post a video where he accused one of the City Councils in Johor of attempting to poison stray dogs in a housing area.

The caption of the post reads, “Cruelty? Crooelty? Doesn’t matter how it sounds. Animal Cruelty is a sin! Distributing poisoned food to dogs or cats and other animals and killing them? SHAME ON YOU! This has to stop,” he wrote.

The video featured footage of a number of the city council’s cars and staff members coming up to a housing area and preparing poisoned food to give to the stray dogs in the area.

However, the dogs were unharmed and the pigeons in the area were the ones that ended up dead due to the poisoned food.

One of the man’s neighbours confronted the city council’s staff and said that it is a bad idea as the stray dogs in the area actually help to scare away thieves from targeting the houses in the area.

In the video the man calls out the city council for their inhumane act.

“This is animal cruelty. Who in their right mind would do such things to these animals. There’s much more humane ways to deal with the issue but we are still living backwards.”

“This is not the right way. Build shelters so people can adopt. You’re killing them, that’s what it is,” said the man in his message to the city council.

We hope that the authorities solve the issue with much more humane methods instead of resorting to killing innocent animals that do not cause any harm.
