Previously, a raid conducted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) on an alleged “gay sex party” bungalow in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, made headlines nationwide, with the police confiscating hundreds of condoms and HIV medications during the operation. As a result of the raid, 3 men were fined RM11,000 at the Kota Bharu Sessions Court for possessing same-sex explicit content.

Following the incident getting traction, PAS Johor Information Department Director Abdul Aziz bin Yunos released a statement questioning whether the ‘gay sex party’ was a conspiracy planned by certain quarters to put the Kelantan State Government in a negative light.

In the statement, Abdul Aziz said that it is widely known that Kelantan residents care about being civilised and living a dignified lifestyle. Furthermore, the state is famous for being the “Serambi Mekah” (Verandah of Mecca) due to its culture and the livelihood of its residents, which is morally sound.

The PAS Johor Information Department Director asserted,

“Suddenly, it was announced that there was an immoral party in Kelantan. A gay party that was never recognised by the locals.”

He then claimed that all the individuals detained during the gay party were not Kelantanese. Abdul Aziz thus poses the question,

“Is this a conspiracy from certain quarters to besmirch the Kelantan State Government and residents a bad name? Kelantan, which has always been steadfast in its “Development with Islam”?

“Is this a planned ‘evil’ to besmirch the name of Kelantan, the Verandah of Mecca?”

Hence, Abdul Aziz urged the authorities to investigate who was behind the planning of the gay party and bringing the immoral act to Kelantan.
