Just this morning (Feb 22), a visually impaired man had passed away after he fell onto the railway tracks and was struck by a train at the Titiwangsa Light Rail Transit (LRT) station.

In a statement, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department have verified the incident and said the victim died at the scene.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Fadil Hesam Mohd said the victim was found under the LRT rail tracks.

“The Operations Centre received an emergency call at 8.38am through the MERS-999 system informing about the discovery of a body under the railway tracks.”

Following the report, officers from the Sentul and Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the location.

“Further investigations showed that the victim lost his balance and fell onto the LRT tracks before being hit by a train. The process of removing the body from the scene of the incident is being carried out carefully by the authorities to ensure safety and a smooth investigation process,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Rapid Rail said that train services at PWTC, Titiwangsa, Sentul and Sentul Timur LRT Stations were temporarily suspended following the incident.

“As a safety measure during the operations, they have deactivated the power supply at the station to make way for the police, fire department and ambulance which are currently at the location to carry out extraction work,” they stated.

“Alternative rail services, including free feeder bus services were activated to support operations during the temporary closure.”
