Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations have started on June 5 and the Muslim community in Malaysia have been enjoying the past few days of festivities. However, it looks like a group of youths have been enjoying themselves a little too much, based on a video posted by the Kedah Traffic Contingent Investigation and Enforcement department’s Facebook on Wednesday (June 5).

In the one-minute long video, it shows about 10 youths on their motorcycles and features a very lively Hari Raya song as its background music. All of them are dressed in their Raya finery and clearly not wearing any helmets. You might think that they are attending a Raya open house but that’s where you are sorely mistaken.

They start riding their motorcycles and it’s clear that they are ‘mat rempits’ as they start pulling stunts on their bikes, including wheelies, supermans and scorpions that are really dangerous. Some of the stunts look like they were done in a kampung area but there are several shots where it looks like these rempits did it on a highway as well, which needless to say is really bad.

Although some of the roads seem to be empty, a few shots show cars passing by in the other direction, so imagine the disaster if one of them slips! The rempits look like they are very pleased with themselves as they wave and smile at the camera while, performing their stunts and endangering the lives of other road users. It is unclear when or where this video was shot as the police did not clarify.

The police posted a caption along with the video, saying, “Admin received this video early in the morning and in my opinion, the youths in this video want it to go viral. So admin decided to upload it but admin wants to remind them that they need to be responsible for their actions. If some traffic enforcement officers suddenly knock on their doors then they should know very well why the officers are there. Admin is really disappointed with these youths.”

Netizens who saw the video condemned the rempits, saying that they were endangering other motorists for their own silly stunts. Some also said that they should be thinking of their parents and celebrating Hari Raya with them instead of doing this.
