Well, desperate times certainly call for desperate measures!

With all the news about the haze recently, those who frequently find themselves outdoors are advised to wear the appropriate masks in order to avoid breathing in dangerous particles from the hazardous smoke.

But what happens when there aren’t any masks left?

That leaves us with rather creative alternatives. Like this Malaysian man who recently went viral on social media for wearing a bra to shield his face from the haze.

The man was photographed with half of his face covered by one side of the bra. The bra can be seen attached to the man’s helmet while the middle is securely fastened by the helmet’s strap.

The photo was heavily circulated across Whatsapp with a cheeky caption:

“The haze is bad. Keep safe guys! Remember to wear protection.”

While this photo made us laugh amidst the haze, Malaysians should be wary of the kind of protective gear to equip themselves with during this season.

Recently, a Twitter netizen posted a tweet to clarify which masks work to protect your breathing against the haze and which masks actually have little to no effect against this treacherous weather.

While many Malaysians believe the common misconception that any mask is fine as long as your face is guarded, the mask that is the most effective against the haze is known as the N95.

This type of mask provides an almost complete tight seal around your nose and mouth thus only allowing air to go through the filter. You may find it a bit difficult to breathe with this but that’s a good sign that it works.

So the next time you’re headed out, remember to wear a proper mask that works against the haze to ensure you’re safe and secured!
