In a follow up to the family who dodged quarantine at the Hospital Sultanah Aminah, The Star Online informed the Malaysian public that the trio was finally detained by the police last night.
The two-year-old toddler, suspected to have contracted the Wuhan coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was taken out by his parents despite strict hospital instructions not to do so.
Insisting that the family leaves the hospital to catch a flight back home, the parents wanted nothing more than flu medication for the child, after being referred to Hospital Sultanah Aminah in the first place by a private hospital for having influenza-like symptoms.
According to the Johor Police Chief Comm Datuk Mohd Kamaruddin Md Din, the trio was detained at the Senai International Airport.
“They have been sent to the hospital for quarantine, further examinations as well as treatment.”
The family in question have been under the purview of the police after the doctor of the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department, as well as the paediatrician, insisted that the child be sent to Hospital Permai for quarantine.
Despite giving warning that they may face detainment for failing to comply with strict measures being put in place, the family went against all instructions and made their way to the airport instead.
Let’s hope that such cases would never happen again as it not only puts the family at risk but also others surrounding them.
