Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today urged for comprehensive solutions to the rising trend of drug and vape abuse among youths in the country, especially Malay youths.

He added that while the issue affects other communities, statistics show that it is more prevalent among Malay youths.

The Prime Minister urged all parties to act collectively to curb the problemΒ

BERNAMA quoted the Prime Minister as saying that the drug and vape abuse issue has been escalating and requires a comprehensive solution.

Speaking at the Malaysia MADANI Nationhood Seminar themed ‘Teachers as Catalysts for National Patriotism’ in Putrajaya, Anwar urged the Government and society to use any methods or resources necessary, including counselling and ‘dakwah’ (religious outreach).

He asserted,

“Please discuss and find solutions, whatever methods or resources needed. Is counselling required? Is dakwah necessary? Because this issue has remained unresolved for decades,”

Anwar further revealed that the matter was discussed during the Cabinet meeting earlier today, reflecting the seriousness of the threats to the nation’s future.

The Prime Minister hence urged all parties to act collectively and comprehensively to curb a problem that threatens to destroy the future of the younger generation.
