Not all of us are fortunate enough to think of this MCO as an extended period of time to spend time with our families. There are some people out there, especially those who earn a daily wage are struggling to make ends meet.

This story about a Myanmar immigrant in Malaysia almost broke our hearts.

According to a post by Penang Kini on Facebook, the Myanmar immigrant was not paid by his boss and he was not given food as well. He wanted to go to his brother’s place in Bertam, Penang but he was in Jitra, Kedah. The distance is more or less 100 kilometres.

As he does not have money, he decided to cycle all the way there on an old bicycle. About 40 kilometres in, he was famished and he stopped by Pendang, a small town in Kedah. He then went to a carwash and told the owner that he had no money.

To prove his point, he opened up his waist bag and pockets to show them that he doesn’t have any money. He said,

Abang, I have no money but I hope that you will be able to give me just a little food to fill my stomach, please.”

The kind man then bought him lunch and the man went on his own way.

We hope the Myanmar man has now reached his brother’s house safe and sound. This is a reminder to us to be grateful for what we have. Let’s all stay home so that we can break the chain and life can continue as normal.
