Taking to TikTok, this netizen shared a story of how the state’s religious office turned down two applicants about to embrace Islam after making them wait for three hours!

Claiming that the applicants know nothing about Islam, hence the rejection, this netizen shared a video and an explanation of what took place.

“These two prospective Muslim converts took a day off and made their way through the morning rain towards the Pejabat Agama Permatang Tok Gelam,” said the user.

“They want to become Muslims, and arrived at the office circa 8:40am. The Q&A session took some time, but their application was rejected at 11 am because they did not understand Islam?”

This is expected of new converts, hence the need for them to learn more about Islam as new Muslims. Netizens unanimously said that the department was wrong to reject their application.

“It is better for them to convert at the mosque, where Islam belongs to Allah, not to the power of the office.”

“The Penang Mufti needs to come up with a statement,” said a user.
