Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah are the true embodiment of #couplegoals as they are still so loving and sweet after more than 60 years together. In conjunction with their upcoming birthdays (Tun Mahathir’s birthday is on 10 July and Tun Siti’s birthday is on 12 July), one of the teen stars from Astro Ceria Popstar, Kashika Selvam did an interview with them.

The interview, which was aired on Astro Gempak on 9 July, has caught netizens’ attention as Kashika interviewed them with some cheeky questions. Among some of the questions, she asked about the nonagenarian couple’s relationship.
She directed one of her questions to Tun Mahathir, asking him what was his favourite thing about Tun Siti. Now, that’s a difficult question! Since they have been together for so long, it was definitely hard for him to pinpoint just one but he managed to narrow it down, saying that Tun Siti does not complain even when he has no time to accompany her as he is always busy with work.

Tun Siti said she understood that it was Tun Mahathir’s duty to the country and had to be focused on his work so she does not pester him about these things. Tun Mahathir laughingly said, “If possible, wherever I am I prefer to be with her (Tun Siti). No matter where I go, Tun Siti needs to be by my side. But she doesn’t like to listen to speeches. When I deliver my speech, she will be asleep.”
The climax of the interview was when Kashika actually asked the couple to hug and kiss each other in front of the camera. Although Tun Mahathir was shy at first, he accepted the kiss after some coaxing, much to the delight of Kashika.

To wrap up the interview, Kashika and the crew prepared a surprise for Tun Mahathir and Tun Siti, which comprised a birthday cake and balloons. The prime minister and his wife were very grateful and gave effusive thanks to the people who made the effort to do something for their birthdays.
