Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is strongly suggesting that the government and private sector should allocate 15 minutes of their employees’ time every day for exercise!

He said it’s necessary that this habit turns into a cultural norm so we can promote a healthy lifestyle, adding that employers at government and private sectors can afford to have a break at 11am to exercise.

Finally, an official break time away from all the stress. Yay!

He added that staff should go out of the office for 15 minutes and then head back to their daily routine of completing their work as this would help them become more productive.

“It would be better if they can exercise outside of the air-conditioned rooms,” he said.

Our prime minister declared that he has no secrets in maintaining his health, even at 93, besides ensuring that he eats healthily and exercises regularly.

“Our lifestyle should be to our comfort and suit our health,” he added.

Mahathir also shared a tip on maintaining a fit body, which is to not eat or drink too much as this could make one become fat over time or even have a belly.

Mahathir said it was important to control body weight and not overeat.

“When our body is small, it makes it easier for the heart to pump blood to the whole body.”

He also reminded Malaysians to walk more to avoid muscle contraction when they get older.

“Our muscle, if we do not use it, after some time it contracts and becomes weak. My house has a lift, but I take the stairs,” he said.

Looks like we’ll actually have time to sneak in a workout now and not make anymore excuses!

So, what do you guys think about that 15 minute workout routine? Will you be incorporating it into your 9-to-5 schedule?
