The city with the best value was determined on factors like the cost of accommodation, cost of eating out, cost of entrance fees to tourist attractions and transportation costs in the city.

The study compared the cost of a three-night break during the summer travel period of June-September, across 20 key tourist cities such as New York, Madrid and Hong Kong.

Better still, the report added that the best-value vacations are mostly in Asia as four of the top 10 cheapest destinations are all located within Southeast Asia! Although we’re not too sure how they came up with their lunch & dinner figures.

As for the most expensive countries, our neighbouring country Singapore is listed as the 6th most expensive country in the world, while New York City is ranked the top most expensive destination.
