“Everything is going to be okay.”
That was what the Crown Prince of Johor told his wife and kids when the shooting happened in Bangkok’s Siam Paragon. The family was not far from the crime scene where 3 lives were lost, and they could hear the shots fired, as revealed via his Instagram story last night.
Loud and clear
TMJ and his family were at the hotel lobby which was not far from the mall, and the crowd ran into the lobby to seek shelter when the shooter started pulling the trigger.
“It was loud and there was a lot of screaming,” TMJ described.
It’s in a father’s nature to protect his family. TMJ carried his kids and brought his family to safety by running to the basement along with his team. Without any information about the ongoing shooting, especially about the number of shooters, TMJ had to be ready for anything when fear struck his family.
“My security and I stood in front of my family, creating a human shield to protect them at all cost.”
All he could do at that time was to assure his family that everything was going to be okay while arranging for a way out of the building with his team. Quickly.
“My wife were hugging our kids, trying to stay low and calm because they were terrified.”
TMJ’s security drove the car to the basement and immediately brought the family out of the building. They were headed to the Singapore Embassy which was nearer to the hotel than the Malaysian Embassy. At the Embassy, TMJ contacted PM Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Malaysian Minister of Defence to tell them about what happened.
The plan now was to fly back to Johor immediately after everything was secured.
At the end of his post, TMJ revealed that everyone is safe after going through the worst experience he has ever had.
TMJ visited Bangkok earlier to oversee the preparation of the JDT games in Stadium Pathum Thani, Thailand.
Precious lives were gone during the shooting at the mall, and may their souls rest in peace. A 14-year-old suspect was arrested soon after the deadly incident. Fellow Malaysians, were you at the scene or happened to be anywhere near during the shooting?
