It’s no secret that a lot of people are sexually active no matter what country you’re in, but what’s most concerning is the amount of people who have no clue about how certain contraceptives work. Seriously, we need better sex education lah.

Most recently, one netizen shared screenshots of a Facebook post from a user who recommended taking Postinor (Levonorgestrel) twice a week to “get bigger assets”. Umm… what?!

The alarming post also caught the attention of a prominent Malaysian doctor based in the United Kingdom, Dr Amalina Bakri, who tweeted that this should only be used for emergency contraception purposes, and not to “improve certain assets”. She also advised the person who shared the post with her to report the individual to the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) for spreading such harmful advice.

A number of other netizens also chimed in, warning others not to follow this dangerous advice just to get “better assets”. Appreciate the natural assets your mama gave y’all ok?

For those of you who might not know, Levonorgestrel is actually an emergency contraceptive pill (ECP) (a.k.a. the morning after pill or “Plan B”), which should be taken up to 72 hours after unprotected sex to prevent unwanted pregnancy (no, it’s not the same as abortion because this prevents fertilisation from taking place after sex).

Plus, you can’t just take these pills willy-nilly, as there’s a strict timing you have to follow. On top of that, according to NPS MedicineWise, there are loads of side effects apart from potentially getting tender breasts, which are;

  • Tiredness
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Stomach pain
  • Diarrhoea
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Tender breasts
  • Increased vaginal bleeding
  • Skin reactions

So, it can be potentially dangerous if you just ingest this contraceptive twice a week instead of following the recommended dosage.

Please use contraception responsibly, guys. These pills are not supplements. Do your research on reliable websites and consult a medical professional before taking any form of contraception. Treat your body right!
