On June 15 (Saturday), Minister of Communications and spokesperson for the Unity Government, Fahmi Fadzil, reported that Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, had good news to share in relation to food items, and informed that the announcement will be done on June 16 (Sunday).
“There is good news from the Prime Minister. Nothing more than that. We are waiting for the Prime Minister. It shows that when we have good cooperation from the industry sector and there is an understanding that our intention is for the people, we are able to make an announcement like the one the Prime Minister will announce tomorrow,” he said.
Though, the announcement came today (June 17) instead, leaving Malaysians in a state of suspense over what the good news is. Well, it turns out that the good news is that egg prices are dropping by 3 cents (RM0.03) per egg, as shared by Astro Awani.
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, shared that the retail price of grade A, B and C eggs across the country will be reduced by 3 cents per egg, placing the prices at 42 cents, 40 cents and 38 cents respectively, effective today (June 17).
Though, many have since questioned how a 3 cent price reduction for eggs is warranted as ‘good news’ that requires an announcement from the Prime Minister.
“This is the good news?”
“Haha it turns out that this is the announcement.”
“Is this what Fahmi Fadzil was so excited about last night? Egg (prices) are just going down by 3 cents.”
“Does the Prime Minister have to announce even for eggs? No matter how much the prices go down, fried eggs prices will remain at RM1.”
Do you think that the egg price reduction of 3 cents is considered good news that the Prime Minister needs to announce?
