Thinking of picking up a hobby while you’re stuck at home in this pandemic season?
Why not hone your guitar skills all while helping out the underprivileged?
Natasha Anne John (@nat10june) took to her Instagram account to showcase a fundraising initiative alongside her friend, Nish the Fish (@itsalloveman), who has made quite the name for himself in the music scene as a guitarist.
She wrote, “My dear friend, legendary guitarist and all-around groovy dude, Nish the Fish, and I have put together a small fundraiser. We will be conducting a super cool online guitar masterclass to raise money for those struggling in this pandemic because it is a huge injustice that people have to live in food insecurity,”
“All proceeds from this will go directly to The Lost Food Project, a Malaysian food rescue NGO that fights hunger and climate change by tackling food waste.”
While helping feed the less fortunate, you’ll be able to learn how to play the guitar from an industry professional with a minimum donation of RM20!
“You don’t need mad guitar skills to join. Just bring any type of guitar you own or one that you borrowed from a friend! And the enthusiasm to learn!”
You don’t have to join the class to make a donation
You can also make a general donation to their cause, with no minimum amount requirement, but of course, larger donations are always welcome!
“You can also make a donation without attending our masterclass. Every little bit counts and helps,” Natasha added.
The Guitar For A Cause masterclass will be taking place on 22 August (Sunday) at 10am via Zoom, with a minimum entry donation of RM20.
You can check out the guitar masterclass here.
It’s so refreshing to see how our fellow Malaysians are using their creative talents to start initiatives that help the less fortunate. Kudos, Natasha and Nish the Fish!
