We don’t know about you, but playing video games has always been one of our favourite hobbies since primary school. This Malaysian gamer, however, has taken his love for video games to a whole new level and is actually developing his own game at just 12 years old! Walao!

Muhammad Thaqif has caught the attention of a few netizens recently when he shared his story on a local PC Gaming Community group on Facebook.

Earlier in September, Thaqif asked if anyone would be interested to buy a game he was currently developing for just RM1. He explained in his post that he was designing a first-person shooter (FPS) game that would have zombies and spiders in it. He also asked for suggestions on what to name his video game. A large majority of users praised the young kid for his ambition in the comments and wished him all the best in finishing it up.

According to the Malay Reporter, Thaqif was developing the game at a local cyber cafe because he didn’t own a computer and completed nearly 75 per cent of the game before things took an unfortunate turn.

In another post earlier this week (around 16th of October), the 12-year-old took to the Facebook group once again to share some bad news regarding his game.

Thaqif explained in his post that the owner of the cyber cafe had deleted the application he was using to develop his game, along with all the game data that came with it!

This was because the owner was afraid that the application had installed a virus on the computer.

He asked users in the Facebook group if any of them had suggestions for laptops that could be purchased with RM350. Touched by this, a number of members in this Facebook group soon began offering donations to Thaqif to help him get a laptop.

Thaqif’s story soon went viral on social media, eventually catching the attention of Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman, who was impressed by the young boy’s talent and expressed interest in meeting up with him.

Syed Saddiq has recently started working on developing Malaysia’s growing eSports industry, so it would be exciting to see how Thaqif’s talent develops over the next few years with help from our Youth and Sports Minister!

We hope this young boy can complete his game despite this setback. We’d definitely buy it! 😀
