The recent viral video of a content creator participating in an open mic session claiming to be Muslim and then taking off her veil and clothes at a TTDI comedy club has drawn much criticism.
It was revealed that the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has temporarily suspended the operations of the comedy club Crackhouse Comedy Club, over the woman’s performance, much to the disappointment of Malaysians.
Ordinary Malaysians and notable figures have expressed their disappointment over the decision. Recently, live music venue Merdekarya took to social media to show solidarity towards Crackhouse Comedy Club.
In a statement on their social media pages, Merdekarya said, “What is happening now to Crackhouse Comedy Club KL will’ve almost happened at Merdekarya.”
“The difference is that Merdekarya is already experienced and has known the character of this puk*mak Alex for a long time.”
“Crackhouse KL, unfortunately, are not familiar with them, so it is impossible to know and to predict what would’ve happened at their venue before Alex and Amy took the stage,” added Merdekarya.
“Merdekarya and Crackhouse KL often host open-mic events (us for music, they for comedy) to unearth new talent in their respective art majors,” they wrote.
They stated, “It is highly unreasonable if entertainment premises are burdened with the responsibility of anticipating the possibility that one day people will promote their sex cult on our stages.”
“Alex and Amy’s agenda is to use the local art scene to promote their sex cult, and if the venue does not allow them, they plan to help authorities to close down those venues.”
Merdekarya condemned DBKL for suspending Crackhouse’s license as they’ve become the agency to perfect their plans.
“We urge DBKL to withdraw the suspension of Crackhouse KL’s license immediately; otherwise, it would be more appropriate for DBKL’s enforcement division to change its name to Amy and Alex’s Sex Cult Programme Implementation Division,” they wrote.
History with Alex
Along with their message to DBKL, Merdekarya shared how they had experiences in dealing with Alex in the past.
“Alex Chandran used to hang out at Merdekarya back in 2015. Back then, his attitude was already horrible. We would often get complaints from female customers about him.”
They said that his actions had even caused a fight where they then decided to give him an ultimatum: either he changes how he acts or find somewhere else to hang out.
“He chose to hang out somewhere else. However, one day he emerged again with his ‘wife’ Amy to propose doing a sex workshop at Merdekarya. They said it would also involve comedy and a performance by Alleycats,” they explained.
Merdekarya refused their offer. However, one of the staff members said that the pair suddenly disappeared and did not pay their bill of RM75.
“At the start, he said that he did pay it and that we were merely accusing him. However, he then said that he purposely didn’t want to pay the bill just because we didn’t want Alleycats at our venue.”
They stated that in the next 5 days, they were hit with threats of murder and that they wanted to burn down the venue.
Asked the authorities to investigate
To make matters worse, Amy then claimed that she had accidentally eaten pork at their venue and wasn’t informed that they even served pork. To which Merdekarya replied that they had made it evident that they do serve pork.
“After all the threats, we made a police report, and Alex was arrested and taken to court where he admitted his guilt and was free with a fine of RM100,” they said.
“What is clear is that the pair are not comedians and only use the stages of entertainment venues in the Klang Valley to promote their group sex events.”
