Most of the time, when the sun comes out after heavy rains or a thunderstorm, you’ll get to see a rainbow.
But, what phenomenon turns the sky green? Yeah, this isn’t #MakKauHijau, this is #SkiesAreHijau.
According to a Twitter post by Astro Awani, the residents of Sungai Besar, Selangor, were shocked to see that the sky that they’re used to had turned green last night (October 24).
They wrote, “The residents of Sungai Besar were shocked to witness the phenomenon where a part of the sky were illuminated in green on Tuesday night.”
According to Fox Weather, this phenomenon often times happen during thunderstorms or severe weather.
It is believed that thunderstorms and thunderclouds produce ice or hail, which scatters light and makes clouds appear as a different colour. The more ice or hail and rain in a storm cloud, along with a strong updraft, can help scatter green light.
This is basically a sign that the sky is full of hail and that it may drop at any moment.
So, let’s be happy that we got the see green skies and not a hailstorm instead.
