Following his inaccurate remark about Hannah Yeoh being the daughter of the late Yeoh Tiong Lay, the PAS Chief of Perak has apologised for the matter via a statement shared on his Facebook.

Haji Razman Zakaria pointed out that the circulating video, which was only around 10 seconds long was taken out of his speech that was over 30 minutes long. The man admitted that he was factually wrong about Hannah Yeoh’s “family tree”, and said that the Minister of Youth and Sports is not related to the founder of YTL Corporation Berhad.

Razman expresses disappointment

However, Razman expressed what he truly felt about the media highlighting the unimportant part of his speech during the 3-day event in Seri Iskandar, Perak.

“I am a little disappointed with the media. They deliberately focused on finding faults in my speech without highlighting the success of the 3-day event.”

Razman added that his viral speech was not the main subject of his talk, and was baffled about the part of the speech making headlines.

Regardless, in his statement, Razman apologised to Hannah Yeoh and anyone in YTL Corporation Berhad for his statement.

“I apologised to those affected by my confusing speech.”

In the meantime, Razman also reminded the media to focus less on matters that could break the people apart, saying,

“I hope we can see more intellectual news in the future, not something that can cause tension among the people and break them apart.”

Yesterday, Hannah Yeoh responded briefly by reminding Razman that not all Yeohs are related. What do you think of Razman’s take on this?
