If you frequently drive along the Federal highway while travelling to KL, the sight of Telekom Malaysia’s iconic Menara TM is definitely not something new for you.
According to a report by The Malaysian Insights, Menara TM is now for sale. The amount, however, is undisclosed. The sale is being conducted via expression of interest and the closing date for the sale’s 1st stage is at 12 pm on March 18.
In the meantime, TM has clarified that the company does not own the said building and is not involved with its intended sale by its owner, Menara ABS Bhd. TM is just a tenant of Menara TM, which is located at Jalan Pantai Baharu, Kuala Lumpur which is near to some malls such as Mid Valley Megamall, KL Eco City and Bangsar South. They are also in the midst of relocating to a few of their own properties.
“This includes TM Annexe 1 & 2, as well as our properties in Cyberjaya, to enable greater efficiency and agility, and to accommodate hybrid working conditions for our Warga TM.”
The 55-storey iconic tower was completed in 2001 and it was designed by Hijjas Kasturi Associates to resemble a sprouting bamboo shoot. Back then, it cost US$160 million (RM669 million) to build. It was officially launched in 2003 by the former prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad which holds a Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) status, a symbol of international-class service awarded by the Malaysian government.
