Yes, the price of goods is skyrocketing but there is always a limit to how much we’re willing to pay for food. Some of us may be okay with paying an additional 40 sen to have a Roti Canai to go, but are you willing to pay a high price for that food?

Say, RM9.

In a Facebook post by a Malaysian man, Hairil Aien that has gone viral, he shared some images of some local cuisine that he had with his family members at a restaurant in Pahang. Based on the receipts, 2 pieces of Roti Canai cost him RM18, which means it was RM9 for 1 piece.

Judging from the image of the food, it looks just like any other Roti Canai that we could get at any Mamak restaurant.

Hairil also had a plate of plain Nasi Lemak with Sambal at the sides with the necessary condiments, which cost him RM10. A piece of Roti Telur cost him RM2 more than Roti Canai, which was RM11.

The total bill, including the taxes, was RM45.

“A flatbread that roams 1,800 metres high in the air,” Hairil sarcastically remarked at the price.

The price of the total bill would’ve allowed us to visit the Mamak restaurants for the same food at least 3 times. So, did the RM9 flatbread taste any better than the ones we usually have?

In a conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Hairil said while the portion of the flatbread was slightly bigger than usual, unfortunately, it tasted similar to what he had on other days.

“It tasted exactly like the ones I had in the warung, despite the size,” he said.

Hairil also told WORLD OF BUZZ that he did not expect his post to circulate on social media as that was not his intention.

“All I wanted was to get feedback from my Facebook friends. I certainly did not expect the chaos online.”

Dear readers, what do you think about the price of the Roti Canai that Hairil had, which was obviously on the high side?
