Our favourite theme park is back! That’s right, Sunway Lagoon is finally re-opening and we can’t wait to revisit all the best attractions the park has to offer.

Of course, things are slightly different now that Covid-19 is among us. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun with precautions in place.

Many of you might be concerned with how the major theme park is going to manage mass crowds of people who used to visit Sunway Lagoon every weekend before the pandemic.

But amidst re-opening, Sunway has ensured that new safety and health practices have been put in place so park-goers can have their best day ever while going on their favourite rides and exploring the theme park.

Since January this year, the Sunway Lagoon has been ramping up efforts to maintain the highest safety and health standards, specified by the guidelines of the Ministry of Health (MOH). To maintain these standards, the theme park is rewriting their theme park playbook to introduce a new kind of fun while still providing customers with the same exhilarating experience.

Not only are all staff and guests required to have their body temperature taken and wear face masks at all times, but they are also expected to fill in a digital self-declaration form. Social distancing is a MUST and Sunway has ensured this by implementing non-contact greetings and practices at all contact points (e.g. in the locker rooms, washrooms, suraus, staff canteens).

Wildlife Park staff will be practising biosecurity procedures by equipping themselves with protection gear while handling animals to prevent possible situations of contamination between humans and animals. Likewise, each attraction will also be cleaned and disinfected after every ride cycle.

While these measures are great to prevent the spread of the virus at the theme park, many have questioned how these precautions can be maintained at Sunway’s water park.

“We have customers enquiring via our social media platforms on safety in all our pools. We want to assure our customers that Sunway Lagoon has always prided itself in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. There is also a consistent check of our water quality including testing by an independent third-party water quality control contractor. We are always in constant contact with MOH should the need arise and to ensure that factual information is channelled to the public in a consistent manner,” said Mr. Calvin Ho, Executive Director of Sunway Theme Parks in a statement recorded by their press release.
