On 3rd March, Subang Jaya Medical Centre was forced to temporarily close the doors of its emergency room (ER) to perform an extensive cleaning and disinfection of the whole area after three reported cases of the novel coronavirus were confirmed as positive at the hospital.

Thankfully, following reports from News Straits Times, Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care released a statement, clarifying that the ER was officially reopened at 6pm yesterday (4th March).

RSDH only confirmed that Subang Jaya Medical Centre housed three cases of Covid-19 yesterday as the first two cases were treated at SJMC’s ER department and the third case occurred when a medical staff member contracted the virus after coming into contact with one of the infected patients in the ER.

“As part of our strict safety protocols, we have implemented screening stations at all entry points of our hospitals to ensure that all patients and visitors are thoroughly screened in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines. Also, we have set up triage areas outside of the ER to manage suspected cases of Covid-19.”

Fortunately, the hospital is up and running again to treat those in need. Stay safe, guys!
