Everybody wants to be healthier and what better to help them on that journey than by giving them something free in return.

Our next door neighbours had undoubtedly got that part right when insurance firm Prudential challenged members of the public to perform squats in exchange for a free MRT ride.

Squats, a strength training essential that helps build muscles located at the thighs, hips, buttocks, quads and hamstring, are to be done by would-be MRT passengers at squatting booths set up at one MRT station at a time.

The catch – it has to be 20 squats in 40 seconds – all in perfect form (there’s an A.I. software that tracks your movement so you can’t cheat), and then you get one free ticket.

Reported on Coconuts, the #DOsquatschallenge is not only set on making Singaporeans healthier but also to create brand awareness buzz on social media.

According to Prudential Singapore Chief Customer Officer Goh Theng Kiat, the campaign is done with the hope of encouraging Singaporeans to stay healthy as their life expectancy increases.

If you plan to check it out, be quick because it’s only gonna last till 14 April!

We are sure that should such a challenge come to our shores, it would certainly be a hit amongst health freaks and the most other commuters.
