From 31 August to 4 September, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) through Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) has come up with a special series of license plates in conjunction with the celebration of our 66th Independence Day!

This special license plate series is the M_M series where the plate begins with the M has the numbers in between and ends with an M as well. The first M in the license plate signifies Malaysia and the last one is Merdeka.

All in all, 25,033 people tried their luck to bid on a license plate and only 6,872 bidders were successful. Through this series, they managed to collect a whopping RM22,091,970, reported JPJ in a statement.

Special License Plates

The license plates with the highest bids are M1M with RM622,000, M5M with RM500,000, M8M with RM450,000, M9M with RM402,004 and M6M with RM350,000. Are we surprised? No.

However, those are not the plates with the most number of bidders as M101M has a whopping 39 bidders with the highest bid at RM49,999, M155M had 33 bidders and the highest bid of RM31,000 and M51M with 31 bidders and the highest bid of RM30,089.

License Plate Special Series

It certainly seems that many people are either very patriotic or are just really in the numbers. Nonetheless, we would like to congratulate those who won their bids!
