In Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s press conference today (18 January) regarding the special aid package, he announced that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Movement Control Order (MCO) states will be receiving financial assistance of RM1,000 each.

He said that during Budget 2021, the government had initially announced that street vendors and petty traders in Sabah would be receiving RM1,000 each.

However, Muhyiddin added that the government would now be expanding the financial assistance to 500,000 SMEs in seven states currently under MCO with an allocation of RM1,000 each.

On the other hand, 300,000 SMEs in other states will receive an allocation of RM500 each.

Muhyiddin also ensured that if a state turns into a red zone and the MCO is implemented, the government is ready to assist by allocating additional financial assistance to the SMEs in the affected states immediately.
