Bus, Taxi & E-Hailing Drivers To Receive One-Off Financial Assistance Of RM500 Each

In Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s press conference today (18 January) regarding the special care package, he announced that the government will be providing a one-off financial assistance to taxi and bus drivers.

The government will be allocating RM500 each to 14,000 tourist guides and 118,000 drivers of taxis, school buses, sightseeing buses, rental cars and e-hailing cars with an additional allocation of RM66 million.

Additionally, the government is now providing excise duty and sales tax exemptions for transferring, disposing and the usage of private taxis given that the vehicle is owned for seven years. This requirement is loosened to five years starting 1 January to 31 December 2021
