In conjunction with National Month celebrations for Merdeka Day, the management of a Chinese primary school in Negeri Sembilan displayed the Jalur Gemilang within the school compound.
Unfortunately, the gesture went viral not for its patriotism, but because the Malaysian flag was hung upside down.

In an official statement issued by the school in Port Dickson yesterday (August 2), the management explained that the flag was promptly taken down and repositioned correctly.
They clarified that an employee had been tasked with putting up the flag on Friday evening (August 1), just before the end of the workday.
However, the employee did not realise the flag was upside down. Members of the public who noticed the error took photos, which quickly circulated online.
The school acknowledged the mistake, emphasising that it was unintentional. The management issued an apology and expressed regret over the incident. To prevent similar mistakes in the future, they assured that stricter oversight and clearer procedures would be implemented.
āWe take the matter of respecting national symbols seriously, and we remain committed to fostering patriotic education,ā the statement read.
