A Malaysian woman took to the MamaClub Facebook page to share her gratitude to an elderly e-hailing driver after he went above and beyond with his concern for her sick father when they were on their way to a hospital.

Taking the story from the top, she wrote, “Yesterday when I was at work, my Kakak at home suddenly called me and told me that my father has suddenly started vomiting and having diarrhoea for some reason. His health is not very good to begin with, and he is also a dialysis patient, so I was particularly worried when he started feeling sick.”

However, due to her car being in a workshop and her husband not being available, she decided to book an e-hailing ride to send her home from the office and to take her father to a hospital.

“As soon as I got in the car, I anxiously asked the Malay driver if he could take my father to the hospital later and that I would give him extra money. But, he would need to help carry my father into the car. Seeing that this Abang was about the same age as my father, I thought he would refuse. After all, he would be tired since he is older,”

“However, he actually agreed to my request without even thinking about it and even worried about my father’s condition with me!”

Uncle to the rescue!

When they reached the woman’s home, the elderly e-hailing driver jumped into action and, without hesitation, carried the woman’s sick father into his car to be taken to the hospital.

Though, things got messy from there.

“His car was very clean, just like his good heart, but it was accidentally dirtied by us. Because while on the way to the hospital, my father couldn’t help but vomit. Although I held a paper bag, the seats were still sadly dirtied,”

“I could only helplessly apologise to the Abang and said that I would give him a cleaning fee and the fare later, but he didn’t seem to take it seriously. He kept comforting me gently and said, ‘tak apa… tak apa… (it’s okay… it’s okay…)‘, and told me not to worry about his car,” she said.

He didn’t take her money!

Upon arriving at the hospital, the woman wanted to take out RM150 to give the elderly e-hailing driver before helping her father into the medical facility.

But before she could do that, the elderly e-hailing driver picked up her father and rushed him to the hospital.

“He looked more anxious than me! When he got my father steadily sitting in a wheelchair, he was very obviously relieved. At that point, I finally had the opportunity to give him the RM150, but he waved his hands while repeating his words, ‘tak apa… tak apa… (it’s okay… it’s okay…)‘, and left in a hurry,” she added.

Considering the elderly e-hailing driver didn’t take her money, the woman, who was left touched by his kind actions, contacted the e-hailing service to praise him.

“This world is a broken one, but there are always people who can patch things up. I am really grateful to this kind Abang for saving my bad day! I will also try to learn from him and do my best to help those in need,” she ended her post.

It is true that not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they come in the form of a kind-hearted e-hailing driver.
