We’ve all done something special for our teachers, especially the one who has impacted us the most, right? Well, one Malaysian has gone above and beyond just to help his beloved teacher live a longer life.

According to The Star, a 25-year-old medical graduate from Malaysia has granted his primary school teacher another chance to see daylight as he donated part of his liver to her. Chen Ze Rong reportedly donated 67 per cent of his liver to save his former teacher, Liang Feng Pin’s life.

FYI, Liang was Chen’s science teacher in year five at Kong Min Chinese primary school in Kuantan. Liang’s daughter, Zheng Zi Jing, was also Chen’s classmate in the school.

So, upon hearing about Liang’s liver problem and her desperate need of a donor, Chen offered to donate part of his liver in a heartbeat. Fortunately, the transplant was successfully completed in Singapore.

Chen currently has jaundice but assured that his condition will improve once his liver starts to grow again.

Thank goodness!

However, if you think that’s the end of it, you’re wrong! Y’all who have been through these tough medical procedures know how hard it’s going to be.

Here’s the gist what’s going on now:

  • The mum currently depends on life support and her breathing is aided.
  • Doctors found out that her bile duct was inflamed and has a blood clot, so her operation is postponed till the clot goes away.
  • With every night’s stay there, their debt goes higher and their bills are currently estimated at a whopping RM150,000.
  • To date, their total medical expenses are at about RM650,000.
  • Yayasan Nanyang Press has been trying to offer funds but are only able to collect RM440,000 so far.

The family is currently urgently looking for some help. If you wish to donate, you can do so. Here are the deets:

Prior to this, the night after the surgery, Zheng, her daughter, took to Facebook to thank her wonderful friend for his “miracle” sacrifice which helped save her mum’s life. She was quoted as saying,

“The support of Chen and his family makes me realise that love is not only confined within (the) family. Love is everywhere if one is genuine.”

“I would never have thought that he would be willing to go this far and be the one who saved my mother’s life.”

Awwh!

We applaud Chen for such a selfless act because it’s not an easy task to donate part of our organ to another person. We also wish everyone else are able to help the family out!

Just do what you can, no matter how big or small the amount!
