Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari perfectly portrayed how no one is above the law by sharing how he immediately paid the compound for a parking offence at Subang Jaya.

Taking to his official X account, Amirudin said that he suddenly received an SMS today telling him that his car was issued a summon for a parking offence by the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).

He added that the SMS contained a link where one could directly pay for the summon, which he did.

The Selangor Menteri Besar further revealed that it only took him under 5 minutes to settle the payment and that since 2019, all local governments in Selangor have allowed people to pay for parking summons online.

He then jokingly advised Malaysians to click on the summon link on the SMS when they get summoned instead of ‘using cable’ to waive the fine.

Amirudin asserted,

“Remember, if you get a summon notice, click on the link, don’t call the Mayor to ask for a waiver.”

In the replies to the X post, many Malaysians were amused by how even the Selangor Menteri Besar was issued a parking fine by MBSJ.

One commenter joked that Amirudin should’ve used his ‘big cable’ instead of paying the summon. Meanwhile, another jokester said that MBSJ has some big balls to summon the Selangor Menteri Besar.

Besides that, one commenter theorised that Amirudin’s final sentence may be a dig at his predecessor, though there’s nothing concrete to back such a claim.

A Subang Jaya resident also chimed in, saying that paying for a parking summons online is easy, but the problem that many residents face is shop owners putting tables and other stuff blocking parking spots.
