The Selangor government is prepared to examine the need to ban the sales of electronic cigarettes or vapes in the state as recommended by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
According to a report by BERNAMA, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari shared that this matter will be discussed with Public Health and Environment Exco Jamaliah Jamaluddin and the State Health Department.

“This matter depends on Federal regulations, we will be able to implement it, but I see that it requires discussion with the relevant parties, and if there is a need for us to implement it, I need to get all the facts and views,” he said.
Prior to this, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan urged the state government to look into banning the sale of vapes, which have led to the abuse of new synthetic drugs.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad was quoted by BERNAMA as saying that state governments have the authority to ban the sale of vape or e-cigarettes, through local councils, as they’re empowered by local regulations to control the sale of such devices within their jurisdictions.
