Despite us being in the Recovery Movement Control Order, the dangers of the Covid-19 pandemic isn’t behind us. In an update by the Ministry of Health Malaysia on 16th July confirmed that a new cluster has been detected in Mambong, Sarawak.
There have been two positive cases involving a Malaysian and non-Malaysian at a company in Mambong.
In his briefing yesterday Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah confirmed that the cluster was detected when the second case was confirmed through screening in the workplace.
The index case (first identified case) dubbed Patient-8732 experienced symptoms beginning on 12th July and was confirmed on the 14th. 68 other individuals in the cluster have been identified and tested. They’re currently awaiting their results.
Currently, the company is undergoing necessary disinfection process but the source of infection is still being investigated.
Another cluster was detected in the same state, where two confirmed cases had been identified in an engineering firm in Kuching on the 13th July. The index case of the cluster (case-8,694) was tested positive after experiencing breathing difficulties, The Edge Markets reported.
There have been two reported cases from the cluster and the source is still being investigated. Malaysia reported a total of three new Covid-19 cases yesterday, 16th July and 12 new recovered cases.
