In the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) latest update on 13 July, it was announced that a new Covid-19 cluster has been detected in Malacca. The cluster was identified when a third individual tested positive for the virus after coming into contact with the second case of this cluster.

In a Facebook post, the MOH said that the first case of the cluster was a Malaysian citizen (Case 8,673) who returned to Malaysia from Russia on 5 July. The individual’s Covid-19 results at the International Arrivals Entrance came out positive and he was later brought to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

A second screening then revealed that he tested positive for Covid-19. As of 13 July, 14 close contacts of this cluster has been identified but all of them have tested negative for the virus after being screened.
