The field of medicine has advanced tremendously in the past few years. Our medical facilities and professionals can handle most cases, and our country has been ranked as number one in the world for having the best healthcare.

But there are times when health conditions cannot be easily cured, and some of us would resort to alternative medicine for help.

Sometimes they help, but sometimes they hurt us as well. And some snake oil peddlers know how to take advantage of the desperation people with life-threatening diseases face.

Recently, a Facebook page shared pictures of a man selling alternative medicine for several health conditions.

The most expensive is the cure for HIV. Yes, he has the cure for HIV, and it will cost you RM35,000. That’s considered cheap, I guess.

He is also selling the cure for damaged kidneys for only RM1,350. Well, if you are taking alternative medicine without the advice of a doctor, your kidneys might already be damaged. So this a win-win situation. Or this is a lose-lose one?

Another unusual cure sold by him is for dengue. This is something you can consider buying since dengue cases are on the rise in Malaysia. It will only cost you a small price of RM1,500!

That’s cheap. All those medical trials were nothing after all!

Hopefully, you understand sarcasm.

Some alternative medicine does work, but before you invest your money in a cure sold at the pasar malam, please visit a health specialist because you might be doing more harm than good by taking these roadside medicines.
