Former Prime Minister Najib Razak will stay in Kajang Prison to serve the remainder of his imprisonment after the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed his bid to serve the sentence under house arrest.

DAP’s Yeo Bee Yin, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Puchong, posted the news on her Facebook account and remarked that “it’s another reason to celebrate the end of this year.” Meanwhile, PKR MP Wong Chen also reacted to the Court’s verdict today, saying, “Justice lives!”

UMNO leaders slam Yeo Bee Yin and other politicians ‘celebrating’ Najib’s failed house arrest bid

It didn’t take long for many UMNO leaders to respond to the ‘celebratory’ remarks, including UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Akmal Saleh, who urged the political party to withdraw support from the Government.

“We should be a dignified opposition instead of being insulted by these ignorant people!” he said in his Facebook post.

Meanwhile, UMNO Wanita Exco, Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid, in a Facebook post, stated that it has been “tiring to work with DAP’s trash.”

Mohd Razlan, the Political Secretary to the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, also criticised Yeo for her remark, calling it rude.

“Wait for the time when the Malays unite against your tyranny.”

Earlier this year, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) confirmed the existence of the ‘Titah Adendum’, an additional decree issued by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which requested that former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.

In the court’s judgment, the Judge ruled that the addendum did not comply with Article 42 of the Federal Constitution and was therefore invalid.

Najib will continue serving the remainder of his prison sentence at Kajang Prison until the full term is completed.
