Attention, Klang Valley drivers!

It looks like there will be quite a number of road closures happening due to MRT construction works. So, here are some of the affected roads that will be closed up until next year. Time to plan your daily route in advance! 

 

1. Jalan St Thomas (4th Dec 2017 – 2018)

Jalan St Thomas is one of the two roads closed for the construction of the upcoming MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line starting 4th December. The road is partially closed for a stretch of 100 metres.

On top of that, the Chip Huat Electrical & Hardware shop on Jalan St Thomas has also been permanently closed and an alternative route has since been introduced.

 

2. Jalan Ipoh (4th Dec 2017 – 2018)

According to an announcement by IJM Corp Bhd, Jalan Ipoh will also be affected. An excerpt from the announcement, according to the New Straits Times, reads,

“During the construction, motorists heading for Jalan Ipoh (KL-bound and Kepong-bound) will have to follow the traffic flow as per the directional signages indicated in the green arrows in the map.”

Both Jalan Ipoh and Jalan St Thomas are expected to reopen next year.

 

3. Jalan Kepong (Oct 2017 – Feb 2018)

MRT works will also be carried out on Jalan Kepong. Here’s what you can expect;

  • Lane closures along Jalan Kepong – Balai Polis Kepong (Sungai Buloh-bound and Jinjang- bound) (11pm – 6am, 29th Nov 2017 – 27th Feb 2018)
  • Lane closures along Jalan Kepong – Li Meng Furniture (Sungai Buloh – bound and Jinjang – bound) (11pm – 6am, 29th Nov 2017 – 27th Feb 2018)
  • Lane and parking bay closures along Jalan Kepong – Desa Jaya Shop Lots (Sungai Buloh – bound and Jinjang – bound) (11pm – 6am, 29th Nov 2017 – 27th Feb 2018)
  • Lane closures along Jalan Kepong-AEON Big Kepong (Sungai Buloh-bound and Jinjang-bound) (11pm – 6am, 29th Nov 2017 – 27th Feb 2018)
  • Lane closures along Jalan Kepong Underneath MRR2 flyover (Kepong-bound, Selayang-bound and Sungai Buloh-bound) (11pm – 6am, 10th Nov 2017 – 11th Jan 2018)
  • Lane closure along Jalan Kepong (Jinjang-bound) at Pekan Lama Kepong (24 hours daily, 26th Oct 2017 – 26th Jan 2018)
  • Night lane closure by stages along Jalan Kepong (Jinjang Selatan, KL-bound and Kepong-bound) (10pm – 6am, 7th Oct 2017 – 20th Dec 2017)

 

4. Lebuhraya Pintasan Dengkil FT29 (24th Nov 2017 – 23rd Jan 2018)

According to MRT, lanes along Lebuhraya Pintasan Dengkil FT29 Putrajaya (North-bound and South-bound) are closed from 24th Nov to 23rd Jan 2018 (7am to 7pm and 8pm to 6am).

 

5. Persiaran APEC (Nov 2017 – April 2018)

MRT will also be doing construction work along Periaran APEC. Here are some of the things MRT is working on;

  • Lane closures by stages along Persiaran APEC (North-bound and South-Bound) from 23rd November 2017 until 11th April 2018 (8am – 5pm & 8am – 1pm)
  • Long-term lane closure by stages along Persiaran APEC from 1st November 2017 to 31st March 2018 (7am – 7pm)

 

6. Sungai Besi Highway (6th Dec 2017 – 5th Jan 2018)

According to MRT’s website, there is currently a left lane closure along the Sungai Besi Highway (KM9.4 – KM9.7) near Kampung Malaysia Raya (Sungai Besi-bound) from 9.30am to 4.30pm and 10pm to 5am.

 

7. Jalan Pekan Sungai Besi (25th Nov 2017 – 19th Jan 2018)

Work involving piloting, utilities relocation and other related works for MRT construction have caused lane closures along Jalan Pekan Sungai Besi between 10am and 5pm from 25th November to 19th January 2018.

 

8. Jalan Metro Perdana Barat (3rd Nov 2017 – 27th Feb 2018)

There will also be a continuation of slip road closure at the motorway junction of Jalan Metro Perdana Barat (Jinjang-bound) for 24 hours daily to help facilitate the construction of piers for the MRT SSP Line. This road will be closed until 27th February 2018, according to MRT.

 

9. Seri Kembangan (30th Oct 2017 – 19th Jan 2018)

Another road affected by MRT construction works is Jalan Raya 1 Seri Kembangan, which will undergo 24-hour lane closures daily from 30th October 2017 until 19th January 2018.

10. Jalan Kuching (20th Oct 2017 – 17th Jan 2018)

For those taking this road, there will be a continuation of night lane closures along Jalan Kuching and the slip road opposite Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato’ Ibrahim Yaacob between 10pm and 6am from 20th October until 17th January next year.

 

11. Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (Oct 2017 – Jan 2018)

There will be a number of road closures involving Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah. Check them out here;

  • Continuation of night lane closures by stages along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (near Kompleks Mutiara) (10pm – 6am, 20th Oct 2017 – 17th Jan 2018)
  • Continuation of night lane closures by stages along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (near Pos Malaysia) (10pm – 6am, 20th Oct 2017 – 17th Jan 2018)
  • Lane reduction and road realignment works along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (KL-bound & Kepong-bound), near The Maple Condominium (24 hours daily, 3rd Oct 2017 – 3rd Jan 2018)

 

12. Jalan Putra Permai (18th Oct 2017 – 17th Jan 2018)

Jalan Putra Permai will be undergoing the following road closures;

  • Continuation of left most lane closure along Jalan Putra Permai (Puchong-bound) (24 hours daily, 18th Oct – 17th Jan 2018)
  • Continuation of slip road closure along Jalan Putra Permai towards Giant Hypermarket (24 hours daily, 18th Oct – 17th Jan 2018)

 

13. Persimpangan Putrajaya Sentral (13th Oct 2017 – 13th April 2018)

Motorists can also expect a continuation of long-term lane closures at Persimpangan Putrajaya Sentral between 9am and 10pm, and 24 hours from 13th October 2017 to 13th April 2018.

 

14.  Jalan P9 (13th Oct 2017 – 9th Oct 2018)

There will also be a continuation of long-term lane closure along Jalan P9 towards Putrajaya Sentral Station (North-bound). This 24-hour long closure will take place between 13th October and 9th October next year.

 

15. Jalan Kuala Selangor (20th May 2017 – 19th Feb 2018)

Drivers should also expect right-most lane closures and road realignment works along Jalan Kuala Selangor (Sungai Buloh-bound and Kepong-bound) from FHM Equipment until the exit to Sri Damansara for 24 hours until 19th February 2018.
