A total of 23 residents at Pelangi Damansara, Persiaran Surian have tested positive for Covid-19. Residents of Block B were instructed to undergo a Covid-19 screening test due to an increase in positive cases in the area.

According to a representative from the Petaling District Health Office, Dr Abdullah Shafie, a total of 760 residents in Block B of the condominium have gone through swab tests.

“We started screening since 6.30 this morning involving those who have symptoms,” he told Sinar Harian, adding that the screening process will be completed in Block B first before proceeding to Blocks C, D, E and F.

Meanwhile, Petaling District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the police will assist in launching the screening process.

“I have allocated members as early as 5am this morning and we stopped for a break at 11.30am. At 5pm we continued screening the residents who returned from work,” he said.

As a precaution, Ezanee added that the police will ensure that the residents there comply with the standard operating procedures including physical distancing.

“We are running a ‘Keep PJ safe’ campaign where residents in Petaling Jaya only leave the house when there is a need. This includes recreational activities, exercising and others which can be done from their homes,” he said.

It is understood that Petaling Jaya Police has issued a total of 1,089 compounds for violating the SOP of the Movement Control Order (MCO) since its implementation in March 2020.
