We have not heard much good news about Proton in recent times – with some still questioning the relevance of the Malaysian car manufacturing brand joining Geely, or the constant criticism of its products.

But this is one that is sure to put lovers of the Malaysian brand at ease as the car company have penetrated Pakistan as its next export destination.

Partnering with Al-Haj Automotive, Proton has already begun a successful production rollout of the Proton Saga and is now looking forward to the production of the X70.

Currently a total of 2,500 orders have been received for the Proton Saga and 2,000 orders have been received for the X70.

“We are working to catch up to the market demand.”

“This will allow Al-Haj Automotive and Proton to establish a strong market presence in the country to benefit future sales growth.”

Just how cheap are Proton cars compared to its competitors in Pakistan?

Currently, Proton Saga is put in the same class as the Changan Alsvin, Honda City 1.3 and Toyota Yaris.

It is touted as the most affordable option for those looking for cars in that segment and we have to say that it offers a lot more compared to other brands.

Let’s hope that the company will thrive in Pakistan and maybe in other locations in the region as well.
