Perikatan Nasional (PN) has been given the mandate to form the new state government for Kedah after achieving a simple majority in the 2023 State Election (PRN).

According to a statement by the Election Commission (SPR), PN has won 19 out of the 36 seats in the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (DUN), more than the 50% of seats in the state.

With Kedah caretaker Menteri Besar (MB) Dato’ Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor retaining the Jeneri DUN seat earlier today, he is likely to become the state MB again. However, PN is yet to announce its MB candidate for Kedah as of yet, particularly after Sanusi’s recent controversy.

Do note that PN may well win more seats as votes are still being counted but they are already confirmed to win Kedah as no other parties or coalitions can catch up with them.
