Choosing to get married and starting a family is a huge commitment, especially considering the combining of finances and the future children’s physical and mental wellbeing.
Hence is why picking a suitable life partner before deciding to get married and start a family is vital.
A 23-year-old Malaysian woman took to the TwtSecretsMY Twitter page to share how lonely she feels after her family disowned her for getting pregnant and her boyfriend’s (the baby’s father) hesitance to marry her.
She shared, “Since earlier this year, I haven’t lived with my family. I live with my future in laws. I am pregnant and yeah, the baby is almost 6 months along. Actually, my parents are against me since they’ve kept blaming me because I got pregnant.”
She explained that since she had gotten pregnant, she had asked her boyfriend to start the process of their marriage, but he instead got angry at the request because it all costs money.
She then suggested that she could pay for their marriage course but they should split the rest of the costs (for the engagement and the wedding) evenly, because she worries about her child’s future should she end up becoming a single mum.
“I just think about my daughter. That’s it. She needs a father’s love. I know the situation when our lives do not have the love of a father. Indeed in my heart I would be willing to be a single mother, but I can’t do that. Raising a kid is kind of challenging, I see his efforts but sometimes, something keeps bugging me,” she said.
It turns out that her boyfriend has yet to let go of a past relationship and keeps nude pictures of his ex-girlfriend on his phone.
She also added that she has the urge to leave the baby with her boyfriend (as he can afford to take care of the baby) before running away.
“I still remember when he saved his ex’s nudes during my pregnancy. Sometimes, I keep questioning myself, why did I let this guy love me when he can’t get over his past? I swear, I’m tired. Sometimes, when I’m angry with him, I end up apologising. I feel like I am wrong for getting angry at him.”
“I’m sick of this life. Sometimes I feel like running away, but I’ll leave my daughter with him. Because I know he can afford (to take care of) her. Not me,” she explained.
In the end, she feels alone in this situation.
“My family left me. (They) threw me away. I am alone. I am insanely sad with nowhere to go. I think about other people, but people don’t give a sh*t about me,” she ended.
We genuinely hope that she finds her path towards taking care of herself and her unborn daughter and heals from her heartbreaking circumstances.
