According to district police Chief Assistant Commissioner Nazron Abd Yusof, the police received a report that a group of men at an apartment complex had caught several cats and put them in sacks before loading them into a vehicle, allegedly intending to abandon them at an unknown location.

“Further checks by the police found that DVS had received similar information and complaints regarding the incident, and they are taking action under the provisions of the Animal Welfare Act 2015.”

He added that investigations also revealed that a separate police report was lodged earlier today, denying any abuse or mistreatment of the felines.

“This report was made by representatives of the men recorded in the video, who are members of the apartment’s residents association committee,” he explained.

He also called for the public to adhere to the laws, including those prohibiting cruelty to animals or pets, where violators, if found guilty, can face legal action.
