Simiun also urged members of the public with information related to the incident to pass on the information to the Ranau IPD to assist in the investigation.

Following the investigation, it is believed that vaping is the cause and Simiun has stated that the police have detained 10 students at the school in question to assist in the investigation.

“Five students were arrested yesterday while another five were arrested today. All the arrested students are 15 to 17 years old.”

According to him, all the students are currently in police custody in the lock-up and will be released on bail after the investigation is completed.

“Preliminary investigations also found that the cause of the incident is believed to be that the student who started the fight is said to be dissatisfied and angry with the victim who was smoking a vape and causing trouble to other dormitory students,” he said.

Simiun said the investigation is still ongoing, and the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 506 of the Penal Code for threatening.
