Women’s coaches (the pink coaches) on MRTs and KTMs are an initiative to enable safer and more comfortable journeys for women, especially considering the immense amount of sexual harassment cases on trains.

But, does that mean that women are only allowed to use the pink coaches?

The Annoyed Malaysian Twitter page recently shared their opinion on abolishing women’s coaches as ladies have been spotted in normal coaches as well.

They wrote, “Unpopular opinion but the women’s coach on the MRT is a badly executed idea as it creates unnecessary problems like this right here.”

They are referring to an incident where the women’s coach was allegedly empty while the normal coaches were apparently filled with women taking up the space.

“It inconveniences an already flawed MRT system that reaches max capacity during busy times. Either eliminate it or shrink the allocated pink space,” they added.

In another post, it was once again brought up that a women’s coach had space, yet women were sitting at the normal coaches while men apparently had to stand in close proximity of each other.

“See! Just get rid of the MRT women’s coach and revert to normal coach for all trains. It’s a dumb idea that is inconveniencing everybody,” Annoyed Malaysian shared.

Considering that there are just as many women on trains as there are men, but often times there are only 1 women’s coach, perhaps having women on normal coaches is something that’s unavoidable.

What do you think? Should women only be allowed on the women’s coaches on trains?
