Melaka’s economy rejuvenates as huge crowds of tourists are seen visiting the state during the weekend.
A visit to Melaka town on 6 November (Saturday) got me surprised as the place was flooded with tourists. Groups of family, friends, and couples are happily gathered around the town to experience the feeling of travelling after the interstate travel ban has lifted.
Many stalls and shops at Jonker Street have reopened to welcome the tourists. The famous H&M clothing building and Hard Rock Cafe was also open, with safety measures for customers to follow.
One of the attractions in the state, the Melaka River Cruise, was also back in operation. The town almost looks as if it has returned to the pre-covid days.
Most of the tourists were seen wearing masks, while some have put the mask down while eating and talking.
Although we are gradually entering into the endemic phase with more and more social activities being allowed, do keep in mind to not be complacent and always adhere to the SOPs, such as sanitising your hand, practising physical distancing, as well as wearing the mask at all times.
You are also advised to take a Covid-19 self-test before and after travelling to ensure the safety of you and your loved ones. Stay safe!
