Penang Employer Fined RM10,000 For Ordering ALL His Employees To Work From Office During MCO
An employer in Penang was fined RM10,000 after he ordered ALL his employees to come into work during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Oriental Daily reported that the police conducted an inspection on the office premises on Monday (31 May) and found that standard operating procedures (SOP) were not being complied to.
Timur Laut Police Chief, ACP Soffian Bin Santong said that according to the National Security Council (MKN), only 60% of employees are allowed to work for the private sector. However, upon inspection, it was discovered that 100% of employees were ordered to return to work.

“The office did not follow standard operating procedures, and the police issued a fine of RM10,000 against the company,” he said.
He added that the police are now stricter in implementing SOPs and will conduct surprise inspections on offices to ensure that SOPs are being complied to.
Additionally, he said that 35 inspections teams in the the Timur Laut district have been deployed to conduct inspections at supermarkets, offices and other places.
